Rotary Club of Greater Vancouver Centennial participated in the celebration of Taiwan Day (and BC Day) on Aug. 1, 2005 at Vancouver's Bobolink Park. More than 500 people attended, and we raised $100. from this event.

This year, the Taiwan Day in BC falls on the same day as the BC Day, so it is a double celebration for those who live in BC and have a Taiwan connection. Apart from the usual greetings by political dignitaries, there are also games and performances that bring out the best of Taiwanese culture.

Timing was tight when our club decided to participate and members worked hard to assemble the banner, the Rotary logo, preparing traditional Taiwanese food, and manned our booth. The weather was sunny but windy. As most booths were selling more or less the same food stuff, there was a fair degree of "friendly" competition for customers.

It was a fun-filled event, and better still, we raised $100- for our Club.
